About Folklore Pictures

Hey folks! I’m Jordan Osmond.

After spending the first 11 years of my filmmaking career directing, filming, and editing over 35 documentaries as part of the Happen Films team (films such as Living the Change,Fools & Dreamers, and The New Peasants) I felt called to head in a new direction and in early 2026 ‘Folklore Pictures’ was born.

We’re living through a time of interconnected and deepening crises, so what are we going to do about it? How do we use this incredible time of transition to create lifeways and systems that are regenerative, equitable, and beautiful?

I’m making these films because I believe storytelling is an essential part of this journey because being able to imagine is the first step towards action. How do we create a more regenerative, resilient, and beautiful world if we can’t see it?

Through my filmmaking I want to provide a plethora of possibility, a landscape of inspiring responses to the polycrisis to show there’s so much we can do at the household, community, and bioregional level to create a better world.

Some of the underlying questions I want to explore in these films are:

  • What can we do at the household and community level to live healthy, beautiful, connected, and resilient lives?

  • What is the big picture story of the transition we’re going through as a society and species?

  • How can we be more connected to the resources that make our lives possible?

  • How can we let ourselves feel the grief of the world and channel that into action?

  • What lessons can we learn from traditional cultures about relating to the natural world?

  • What does it look like for humans to be a beneficial presence in ecosystems?

I hope you’ll join me on this journey of learning, sense-making, and exploration into how we can show up in these times and craft our own homegrown responses.
