Like the people featured in these films, I’m on my own journey of living more in alignment with my values. The way I earn a living and how I fund the production of these films is something I see as an essential part of that journey. That’s why these films will never have ads, product placements, or commercial sponsors.
They’ll also always be free to watch, by anyone, anywhere in the world. But of course filmmaking costs money, even though I’m able to keep costs very low by doing the directing/producing/editing myself and using modest and (where possible) secondhand equipment.
So then, what’s my plan for making ends meet? Well, I’m taking a leap of faith into the gift economy, trusting that if these films resonate and people find them helpful, then enough money will flow back to allow me to carry on making them.
My long term dream is to be entirely funded by you, the Folklore Pictures community. Either through small donations or larger philanthropic support, every donation adds up and makes a huge difference.
