How do we live beautiful lives
in these turbulent times?
Folklore Pictures is a documentary production company founded by Jordan Osmond (me) in early 2026. After spending the first 11 years of my filmmaking career creating over 35 documentaries as part of the Happen Films team, films such as Living the Change (2018), Fools & Dreamers (2019), and The New Peasants (2025), I felt called to head in a new direction and ‘Folklore Pictures’ was born.
I’m approaching Folklore Pictures as an exploration, a journey without a destination but there’s a direction of travel. This journey is driven by an ongoing curiosity about the world we live in, the interconnected issues we face, and how we can each contribute in these times.
We’re living through a period of exceptional change where the globalised industrial civilisation most of us live within is reaching a breaking point, along with the natural world we all depend on. I don’t believe it’s possible (or even desirable) to ‘solve’ these problems to allow business-as-usual to continue. But we do have a choice in how we respond.
As old structures and myths crumble, we have the opportunity to replace them with lifeways and systems that are human scale and regenerative.
“The end of the world as we know it is not the end of the world full stop.
Together, we will find the hope beyond hope, the paths which lead to the unknown world ahead of us.”

A Moneyless Life
In 2015 Jo Nemeth left her job, closed her bank account, and said goodbye to the last of her money. Feeling unable to reconcile her knowledge of the violence inherit in the global economy with how she was living day-to-day, Jo was looking for a way to radically change her life. She found this inspiration in the books by Irish ‘moneyless man’ Mark Boyle.
11 years on from the decision to live without money, Jo has been able to reduce her ecological impact dramatically while living a healthy and fulfilling life. Over this time she’s also furthered her knowledge about the crises we face globally and as a result is now ‘collapse-aware’.
This collapse awareness is now a main driver behind her work in the community where she’s learning about and experimenting with growing climate-appropriate perennial plants to build local food security.
